Apple and Blackberry Crumble

Apple Blackberry Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

For the fruit filling

  • 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, chopped)
  • 200g blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)

For the crumble topping

  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g cold butter (cubed)
  • 75g caster sugar (or light brown sugar for extra flavour)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F / Gas Mark 4.
  2. Prepare the fruit: Put the chopped apples in an ovenproof dish. Add the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  3. Make the crumble topping: In a bowl, rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.
  4. Assemble: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the fruit.
  5. Cook in the oven for about 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
  6. Serve with a spoonful of our Madagascan Vanilla Yogurt.
